Our CORE BUSINESS
Levantia: small, unique and decisive! We are like a precious drop of water in the beautiful Po River that runs through this area of Italy. We work in the vast sector of vegetable seeds for professional growers but we have deep roots in our territory. First of all, our name, Levantia comes from our territory. In fact, we are situated in the heart of Delta Po Regional Park, near the east (Levante) branch of the Po river, a rural area rich in biodiversity and zones perfectly suited for the cultivation of many IGP (Protected Geographic Indication) products.
We get inspiration from the territory for our activities. We pay attention to customers needs. At our heart, we have the desire to satisfy them and in many cases they become real partners in the production, research and development of new varieties.
We work mainly in Italy but with a view to foreign markets and with the aim – and a dash of ambition- to be the representatives for Italian products across the world.
Our PHILOSOPHY
We are a team of professionals and technicians with twenty years of experience in this sector. We consider the relationship with our customers as an added bonus. For this reason we have a tailor-made approach with everyone of our partners.
We manage with care both the small farm and the big corporation. We consider the final satisfaction of consumers important and so we aim to contribute to the production of successful vegetable products, which is really appreciated by our customers.
In order to take care of our customers at any moment, we make our know-how available. Our knowledge is the result of our hard work and passion for it!
The synergy between company and customer is fundamental. Establishing a loyal relationship allows us to face the changeable requirements of the market and to create new alternatives that satisfy the most exacting tastes and demanding producers.
Our RANGE
From the beginning, we made a precise choice to specialize. In our catalogue you don’t find an infinite number of varieties but an intentionally restricted range, that is often original and researched in order to obtain high quality products, able to stand out in the market.
Our range is mainly focused on squash, pumpkin, baby leaf salads (lettuce and wild rocket), chicory and endive, turnip and radish, cauliflower and fennel. Among the well-known varieties, we also propose the typical ones of our territory and new varieties that draw the attention and curiosity of many sector leaders with whom it’s possible to start innovative projects and to get involved in large-scale distribution.
Our RANGE
We consider ourselves lucky as our team is composed by expert technicians and breeders, who are competent and collaborative and have let us to grow over the years. We supervise seed productions, we look for new varieties to introduce into the market, and we test and certify the seed before sale. Varieties can be commercialized only if they pass our strict field tests for different growing cycles (3 trial years). We analyze the plant behaviour, the yield, the resistance to cultivation stress, and the adaptability to different areas.
Commercial seeds are subjected to careful controls for pureness, germination, vigour, and lack of disease. We also ensure the seeds are absolutely free from genetic modification. Quality starts with the seeds and Levantia is the first step in this process.
